Secrets, Feng Shui, and the Art of Letting Go
Secrets, Feng Shui, and the Art of Letting Go
The other day my client reminded me of one of the juiciest secrets I keep. (At least, it’s not something I put on my resume!)
But it’s also one of the best memories I have, a reminder of something that made me feel amazing, high as a kite, and wildly happy singing on stage with my friends, wielding my jazz hands like I was born for it.
I also happen to be uncovering some other secrets, hidden for decades in unmarked boxes now taking up space in my cellar. Thanks to that second-hand book of Feng Shui I started reading, I began honestly looking at what I have been unconsciously holding on to in the basement, and in my life. (Oy.)
So I keep what holds the most value, and acknowledge what no longer inspires. But it is not always easy to let go.
Who will I be if I no longer have my report cards from Hebrew School? Or the VHS of my 6th grade performance of Hansel and Gretel? Or my high school ice hockey jersey?
The book reminds me that clutter is an unseen, detrimental energy suck. And I can feel it. But I now choose to live consciously and intentionally. So what do I choose to hold onto?
I keep the mementos that bring me a thrill, and I let the rest go.
The report cards definitely go: no regrets about that.
The jersey stays: a reminder that I know how to kick ass.
But I have another secret to share: when it comes to your voice, most of us live unconsciously and unintentionally. Yet the way you use your voice exactly resembles a space in your home.
Your mind is the unconscious repository of memories, patterns, and experiences that affect the way you use and show up with your voice. Your experience is going to reflect the state of who you are, and what thoughts you hold on to about your singing.
For most people, this will be without awareness. We just do what we do, work hard (or not), and hope for the best. But mostly, we totally ignore the clutter in the basement.
Yet if you want to surpass any issues related to your voice, then I encourage you to look under the surface. When you acknowledge the unconscious beliefs that are playing out in your singing, your life, or your career, you can intentionally craft a new experience.
When I decided I no longer wanted to suffer on account of my voice, I made an intention to change. It was the most radical experience of my life. I could never have dreamed of the miracles that unfolded in my life as a result. It was a conscious choice to rise up, and an intention to release that which no longer worked for me.
But you must be open to the fact that change is not only possible, but it is on the other side of this moment.
When you choose to have a better experience, you open the doorway to whatever you choose to create. You can choose what you wish to keep, and let go of what no longer serves you.
Take a moment to clean out the clutter. Then make a conscious choice to evolve, and an intention to thrive.
Guided Prompts for Healing Your Voice
Take a moment to breathe, center awareness within the heart space, and enter into a state of stillness. Allow these questions to guide your higher mind into clarity.
What beliefs have you been unconsciously holding onto about your voice?
Why?
How do you choose to feel about your voice?
Do you believe that change is possible?
What beliefs, patterns, or memories do you need to let go of in order to realize your vision for your voice?
Prayer for Healing Your Voice
Dear Creator,
I am ready to feel better about my voice.
I release all pain, suffering, and heartache I harbor on account of my voice.
I release all attachments of painful memories, experiences, and shame about my voice.
I embrace change, and allow the next chapter for my voice to begin at this time.
I now rise up with my voice, and embrace my calling to be a messenger of divine love.
I reclaim my voice. I love my voice. I own my voice.
Please help me to understand the nature of my voice, and how I may consciously use my voice for the betterment of the world, and in my own life.
I pray for the will to transform, and the strength, courage, and determination to allow change.
May I use my voice consciously.
May my intention for my voice be infused with your love, and inspired by your will.
And so it is. Amen.
