It’s so easy to get lost in how you sound, how advanced you may (or may not) be, or how courageously you take center stage.

I believe it's more courageous to acknowledge that there is a purpose for your voice, and you are willing to step into it, especially when there is no straight line to realize your dream. 🙏

Please do not spend your time worrying about what you *don’t* have.

Rather, spend your time praying for clarity, the realization of your vision, and the courage to crack through the veneer of fear and resistance that keeps you held back from all the good stuff that’s in store for you. ❤️‍🔥

When you use your voice, especially for the purpose of amplifying your authentic self, you transform into a lightning rod. ⚡️

You become a powerful conduit of energy.

You can easily mistake this hyping-up energy (that comes with a rush of adrenaline, increased heart rate, shallower breath, you know the drill 😳) as Nerves. Because #nerves.

But look deeper at the energetic cause: by igniting that intention to express yourself, whether through singing or speaking, on stage or in a heart-to-heart, you are opening the portal to another dimension. It can get Big and a little overwhelming.

You are a lightning rod that is *ungrounded.* That “nervous” energy... that power?

Unless you prepare your mindset, your body, and your intention, that energy is going to take over your nervous system! 🤯

Cue the Overthinking. Mental Overwhelm. Inner chaos. Freak-Out. Because #fear. 🧠🙀🗯

I know you want to own your stage. Your voice. Your ideas. Your Authentic Self.

I wrote a prayer to invoke Inner Harmony and your voice. 🙏

Your energy current IS strong, that is a GOOD thing. It’s a sign that you are awesome and have something beautiful and important to share. ✨

Just be ready, be wise, be willing to get clear and strong. You can be powerful AND harmonious. ⚡️

How can you cultivate greater inner harmony when you sing? 🙏

It's SO easy to get caught up in the little things. Especially in singing.

Do this. Do that. I should do this. I should do that. I didn't do this. I can't do that. They think this. They won't think that. 🤯

There is a mental chatter, what I call the "ticker tape," of constant, bubbling thoughts. They either guide you, or distract you, or sometimes completely sabotage you. 💭

What's happening inside when you are singing? Are you plotting the calculus of your next move, or the arrangement of the notes? Are you anticipating something fearful, or worried about your voice? Are you afraid of making a mistake, or worried about how you look or sound?

Thoughts. Thoughts. THOUGHTS. 😵‍💫

Inner harmony is accessed from starting at the top, and initiating your connection with source.

Your voice outflows from a quiet mind connected to the divine source. ✨

But most importantly (and honestly the greatest lesson I have learned), is that when you quieten the ticker tape, and become aligned with your higher nature, the reward is not just good singing and a capable, trustworthy voice.

The true reward is the recognition that you, and your voice, are a vehicle for Divine Love. And nothing could more harmonious than that. 💝

It is tempting to compare ourselves with creative geniuses. They are labeled a "genius," after all!

✅ Paul McCartney
✅ Lin-Manuel Miranda
✅ Hildegard von Bingen

(These three take up my top three spots. Who are yours?)

These exemplars of creative genius are not better than us, you and me. They are just really, truly great at being themselves. 😎

Admittedly, they have a unique advantage...

By trusting in themselves, their innate creativity, and the *source* of that creativity, they allow the unfolding of their personal genius.

They create amazing, new things. Things that we could never think of, because those are *their* things, not ours. 🪄

Personal genius is not about intelligence, or the subjective quality of your skills and talents. It is about the unique unfolding and harmonization of your personal gifts and talents and desires, melded together to serve a higher purpose. 🙏

Your genius has a unique flavor. It will be unlike anyone else’s. 🦄

Your work is not to create things that are Good so that they are acceptable. But rather to *allow* works that are Authentic, as a reflection of the sacred being that is the one and only you. 🤲

Your authentic works are inherently good, and a reminder that you are capable of so very much.

Indeed, you capable of your very own genius. 🔥

The relationship you have with your voice can be one that nourishes you, or takes from you.

For many years, too many years, I was held rigidly in the grip of my negative, harmful beliefs about my voice, my artistry, and myself.

The healing journey not only to wholeness and oneness with my voice, but to engage with the most potent work that is currently unfolding, has been the journey of a lifetime.

But the the disconnect, the lack, the worry, the anxiety, and the constant thinking thinking thinking are not permanent.

The relationship you have with your voice can be nourishing. I believe that healing this relationship is the key to harmonizing your inner state of being with your desires for your voice.

A prayer for Being in the Process.

It’s very easy to feel the stickyness, or effort, of a place in the work cycle or creative process.

You are doing the work, but man, it’s Work. 😣

I love to step back and allow some sacredness to guide me back into flow, or ignite my courage, or remind me that I’m not alone with my thoughts and fears.

Breakthroughs always happen when you step back and let go. 🔥

Have you ever thought... If only I knew exactly how I am supposed to use my voice!?!

Sometimes the current outlets that exist may just not feel like a good fit. 😩

Sometimes your particular set of circumstances are just outside the realm of what seems normal, acceptable, straight arrow-ish, or "good enough" to fit into the mold. You may or may not consider yourself a revolutionary, but you may have that uncomfortable sense that what you want to do does not yet have its place.

It hasn't been born. Invented. Ideated. Manifested. Why?

Because, Dear One, *you* may be the person to create that. 💝

Conventional outlets for your voice remain vital, but please do not allow the current powers that be dictate or limit how you express your creative desires in this world of infinite possibility.

The key ingredient, however, is your willingness to allow for something new to even be possible.

I'm talking about a miracle, a shift in your current perspective, a temporary pause in your lack and confusion, so that a New Thing can be envisioned and ultimately, be made manifest.

Of course there is an outlet for your voice. If your desire comes from deep within, then listen for the guidance that calls from deep within. ❤️‍🔥

You will be granted the will, strength, and courage to rise into your calling and ultimately create something sacred and painfully lovely that only you are meant to share with the world.

Remember: the world is full of infinite possibilities. And YOUR voice has a place. 🌎

Sometimes you may be outside the mold, and that can feel difficult to navigate. But instead of lamenting the ways in which you are different, I recommend you celebrate!

The key point to discern the unique outlet for your voice, however, is your willingness to allow for something NEW to even be possible.

So allow a temporary pause in your feelings of lack and confusion. In that quiet space, the seed of your New Thing can be envisioned, asked for, and made manifest.

It's easy to get discouraged. And it's harder to stay aligned with the vision that is your future self, joyfully creating in an abundant universe.

But you can do it, Dear One.

What is the deeper purpose of your voice? ❤️‍🔥

Your voice purpose is not bound by an invisible spectrum that deems whether it sounds "good or bad."

Or whether or not your voice is worthy or capable.

But rather, the purpose of your voice is to allow its innate, divine nature to flower and flourish just as it happens to be, right here and now.

So how can you discern the deeper purpose for your voice?

It is simple, but not easy: you learn how to focus your *awareness* in order to crystallize your purpose.

As I teach, we focus our awareness on our heart. The heart is the seat of the sacred voice, or the voice of the soul.

Heart-centered awareness heightens the senses, calms the thinking mind, and ignites your connection with unbounded creative potential.

Heart-centered awareness can also support your will, when you encounter your fragility or your blocks.

It is through the heart that you are both connected to your divine source, and can discern the outlet through which you express that unique experience of your voice as an expression of love.

And right at this moment, despite any potential limitations or setbacks you may have experienced, your voice is pure, purposeful potential.

Personal leadership, in life and art, is not about being the strongest, most talented, boldest, or loudest person in the room.

It’s about our willingness to stand behind our Self, and to claim our own worthiness.

It’s not easy. (Otherwise we would have done it already!!)

Your personal journey will be marked by those moments that you took a stand and said: This is too important. I am willing to stand up, despite the discomfort, the squeamishness, and the fear.

A practice is to allow the places or instances in which you have held yourself back to reflect where you can bolster and solidify your value.

When you clarify where you are, you can lead the way to your own, personal greatness.

In your art?
With your creativity?
In your career?
With your voice?

If you feel the constant pressure that you *should* be doing something worthwhile, big, important, awesome, spectacular, amazing, top-of-the-line or else, then you are not leading from the heart. 🙃

That's the good ol' ego. (Love her!) 😎

When you have something precious and important to share, it is so so so easy to get all up in your head about it.

In my experience, whenever I heed this call (because my heart will simply not let go!), the steps towards fulfillment of that desire appear before me, leading me forward. 💗

I am being led, because I chose to lead.

However, it is also my experience that inner egoic resistance is in direct proportion to the particular size of the ask!

So if your heart is calling, don't offer the job to your head. Let the heart be your compass. 🧭

(She is much, much smarter anyway.)

I used to think that all I ever wanted out of life was to be an amazing singer. 🙏

Now all I ever want is to be the most whole version of myself that I can be. 🤲

I am a classically-trained musician who has been performing, directing, and coaching professionally for the past 25 years.

But it was through my own personal healing and inner work along my voice journey that I needed to step out of the chase of perfect technique.

As soon as I did, a wild transformation took place. 🌀

I let go of what I "should" do, and discovered a unique, heart-centered framework for vocal mastery and visionary leadership grounded in sacred feminine principles.

So here are some for you, on the way to recognizing - and coaxing - the desires we have for our voice, our creativity, our artistry, or something else entirely that come from the deepest part of ourselves.

That emerge from the heart and soul.

Because those are the desires most worth listening to.

How am I supposed to use my voice? 🔮

Damn, the answer can seem so evasive, covert, or slippery.

So how are you meant to use your voice?

When we ask the question of voice purpose at a rational, thought-based level, we begin to surmise the various ways in which we can do something useful.

We typically equate having a clear function, form, or action as the means to solve our problems. 🪛

The pervading thought is, "there is something I should DO! (At least I'm moving forward.)" 😵‍💫

Well, rather than go down the rabbit hole of what you could DO to ENABLE your purpose, let’s ask a different question. Actually, let’s offer a prayer instead…

Dear God, show me the most pure, lovely, and soul-affirming way to express myself through the music that I love, and that will serve You and others at the same time. 🙏

Indeed, there is an entire universe of possibility available when you look through the lens of the heart, rather than the rational mind. Your way will be revealed, Dear One. 💗

Your task is to ask simply, listen wisely, and respond courageously to the sacred answer.

It's raining today in Silver Spring, Maryland. 🌧

Such is the weather: external conditions outside of my control. But just to be prepared, I better bring my umbrella. I will adapt to the conditions. ☔️

It's the same with the voice. Good days. Bad days. Great Days. Weird Days. I call this the "voice weather."

Your voice is going to respond to the current set of conditions, both personal and external.

But too often, we fall prey to the notion that we are supposed to have Good Days *ad infinitum*. No Bad Days Allowed. ⚠️

My friend, consider the weather. It always changes. You are a human being who is always in a state of sacred flux. It is part of your nature. 🌊

Yet there is only one place within our being that will never be subject to the weather. It's not your mind (sheesh), not your body, not your energy, not your emotions. It's the essence of your being: your spirit. 💗

I cannot offer you any voice teaching that is more valuable than this: your voice is a sacred outlet of your spirit.

When you anchor into the sacred essence of your voice and self, you will be able to weather any storm, Bad Day, wrong note, phlegm ball, rough patch, or botched job. ⛈
